The DDI Search enables search and browse for questions, variables and study documentation in multiple languages. It is based on an open source technology stack that integrates search, comparison and re-use of survey questions for social scientists. DDI Search demonstrates how institutions can set up a fully automated workflow to aggregate metadata, build a search index, offer a rich search user interface on the resulting question banks. From a social scientists point of view, it demonstrate how to find questions in one's area of interest, compare candidates including answer options and language variants, transfer selected questions into the GESIS Questionnaire Editor and proceed
to conducting the survey in an online survey tool.
CED2AR (pronounced as cedar), or the Comprehensive Extensible Data Documentation and Access Repository, is a lightweight DDI 2.5 repository. The project is funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF), under grant #1131848 and developed by the Cornell Node of the NSF Census Research Network (NCRN).
Colectica Designer is a visual DDI metadata editor and survey questionnaire designer. It interacts with Colectica Repository to provide advanced data management functionality. Colectica Designer complements existing systems by importing and generating various forms of data, documentation, and source code.
Colectica Repository is a centralized storage system for managing DDI data resources, enabling collaborative DDI-based workflows, and providing automatic version control.
DDI Index is a Java/Javascript application that provides indexing and searching of XML files created in DDI (Data Documentation initiative) format. Searching and indexing is done using the Lucene search engine library. DDI Index was written by the Australian Social Science Data Archive in 2006 and is distributed under the Apache license.
