The sample codebooks below, marked up with using Versions 1 through 2.1 of the DDI DTD, are provided for purposes of demonstration. They are displayed in HTML via ICPSR's generic codebook stylesheet. Some are also displayed in PDF format. PDF views do not render the Document Description section, even if it is present in the DDI markup.
It is a tool which enables easy anonymization processes of DDI standard univariate statistics. It was developed primarily to address the issue of statistical disclosure control for single variable aggregated data, publically distributed to particularly provide information to scientific researchers to promote detailed official statistics microdata use for scientific purposes. It enables quick and easy automatic data protection by performing data protection methods such as bracketing, top- and bottom-coding, variable (information) removal, numeric descriptive statistics protection and low frequency protection following the minimum frequency rule. In contrast to existing microdata and aggregated data anonymization tools, the developed software protects aggregated data directly in the XML code.

The Data Catalogue (DBK) of the GESIS Data Archive holds study descriptions of all archived studies. The software DBKEdit for maintenance and DBKSearch for research in these holdings was developed by the GESIS Data Archive to make this service available. DBKEdit und DBKSearch are distributed as DBKfree to be used by others. Thus, interested users are able to describe their own catalogues on the basis of that and publish them on the web. (Sorry, DBKEdit is German only at the moment).
Developed by the Data Archive of GESIS, this tool imports SPSS data files; allows documentation of questions, sub-questions and answers; enables language-specific documentation; shows two languages concurrently on the screen; permits reuse of question documentation; exports into a DDI 2-compatible format, for Nesstar or long-term preservation; and exports into a DDI 3-compatible format, supporting enhanced publications.
Apache XMLBeans packages for DDI 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, 1.2.1, 1.2.2, 1.3, 2.0 and 2.1. XMLBeans is a technology for accessing XML by binding it to Java types. For more information, see http://xmlbeans.apache.org/
